Singles ministry has meant so much to me since my time as a young adult who moved here without knowing anyone in Jacksonville already. The singles ministry was a place to make friends. It was a place to be involved. It was a place where I could belong. It was through singles ministry that I came to know Jesus Christ. It was also through singles ministry that I found my place of service in the church (ministering with youth), and later followed my calling into full-time Christian ministry. And, yes, it was through singles ministry that I met my beautiful and wonderful wife, Carleen (What better place?). I would love to help the Singles Ministry at Chets be all those things, and more, to today’s single adults.
I grew up as an Air Force brat in North Carolina, Alaska, New Mexico, Tennessee and North Carolina, again. Goldsboro, North Carolina became home during my middle school and high school years. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism, and a career in advertising for a retail sporting goods chain brought me to Jacksonville. God brought me back to Jacksonville after leaving to attend Southern Seminary.
Carleen and I have been married since 1997. We started attending Chets in December of 2008, and six months later, I began helping with the Singles Ministry. When I am not hanging-out with single adults, I’m probably doing yard work, running, chillin’ with Carleen, cheering for the Tar Heels or spoiling our dogs, Lucy and Buddy.
