Trustees

Earlier this year, our church voted to adopt a revised Constitution and Bylaws – and now it’s time to put them into action! One of the changes included the establishment of a Board of Trustees, and we’ll be voting to elect our first six trustees on Sunday, July 12. If you have a recommendation of a member of Chets who would serve well in this role, please submit it using the form below by Sunday, July 5.

Who are the Trustees?

The Board is composed of at least 9 members.  The Senior Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Business Administrator are ex officio members.  The church will elect 6 other Trustees from the congregation.  The Church Treasurer, if not elected as a Trustee, is an ex-officio member.

What are the qualifications to be a Trustee?

  • Trustees must be a member of Chets Creek Church.

  • Other than the ex officio members, they may not be a staff member or related to a staff member.

  • Trustees should be men or women of good character who represent Christ and Chets Creek Church well.  They should be able to exercise godly wisdom and leadership in working with the Senior Lead Pastor to pursue the vision and mission of the Church.

What do the Trustees do?

  • They serve as a check and balance for the staff to ensure they stay aligned with the mission and vision of the church.

  • They operate in a governance role, not as day-to-day managers of the church.

  • They are responsible for the financial oversight of the church’s resources, the employment and compensation of the Executive Staff, and the annual review of the audit and budget.
